SAW II - 2005
We have used some of the Saw teaser trailers to help us come up with an idea for our teaser trailer. By using a lot of blood and gore in our teaser trailer, this will grip the audience and will make them want to watch our Horror. We like how there isn't much light used in a lot of the trailer so it doesn't reveal too much about the killer or about the film. The titles stand out from the dark background because of the red glow around the titles. In my eyes I don't really like the titles because of the glow around the writing. I think it would look far better if the titles were in a white font because they would probably stand out a bit more to the audience watching.
Sinister - 2012
In the Sinister teaser trailer a lot of the shots are at a fast pace so you can fit more shots in within the time. The Sinister teaser trailer reveals quite a bit about the film within the short teaser trailer. what I also like about the trailer is the fact it ends with the image of the girl that is on the Sinister poster. They have also linked the titles in with the poster by having the dull wall with cracks in it and the titles in a black font so they stand out.
A Nightmare on elm street - 2010
The film appears to be a horror film as it follows the codes and conventions of a horror film. Firstly, the title is written in red which is iconic of blood- blood is associated with horror films .Secondly, we can see the setting is dark, misty and secluded which is associated with horror films as it suggests an unsafe environment as it is hard to see in it. Also the man running away suggests danger following the horror convention of there being victims. Thirdly, through editing tension and suspense is created by using slow motion and quick cuts. Tension and suspense is associated with horror films as horror films are intended to scare people. Finally, through diegetic and non-diegetic sound we can see it is a horror film. The non-diegetic sound, sounds like sawing which creates tension intended to put audiences at the edge of their seat. The music also dramatically stops to draw audience’s attention to the silence and keeps them engaged by having them thinking “what’s going to happen next?” Also through diegetic sound we can hear people screaming which suggests they’re scared, this is associated with horror films.
Let me in - 2010
From the 'Let me in' teaser trailer we get an idea of the main character in the film and who it's going to be based around. The teaser trailers titles are really effective because as well as the title 'Let me in' it give us as the audience a brief idea of what the film might be about. I also really like the background and fonts used in this teaser trailer because they've kept the font simple and used the colour white to stand out from the dark gloomy background.
